Woodpecker Stages 2023

Blazing sunshine, searing 30c heat, and more dust than you can ever imagine. No I’m not describing Rallye Acropolis, it was the Woodpecker last weekend! Quite possibly the hottest event we’ve ever done in the UK, so I can’t imagine how hot it must have been for the crews inside the cars with no air con…

Unfortunately, the event was denied access to the Radnor complex this year, and to compensate for the loss of stage mileage the event had to look further afield into Wales, using the Cwmysgawen and Ceri stages. Having done neither of those stages before, we settled on Cwmysgawen due to the shorter drive home at the end of the day. Sadly, our run of bad luck continued with yet another stage cancellation meaning we didn’t get to see the top historics and 4WDs through the second pass of the stage. That’s the third time this season, and as the saying goes, things come in threes so hopefully that’s our quota of bad luck fulfilled for the year!
